Homemade bread, because buying it these days means a second mortgage. Costs about $0.25 a loaf to make and you know exactly what's in it.

The best cookware you can have is cast iron and steel (not stainless steel). It'll last beyond your lifetime and you don't have to worry about Teflon flaking off or trying to get it shiny clean. Brand isn't important and my favorite wok style pan I got at the Indian grocery for $16. My carbon steel pan here is from @bakingsteel.

I was 9 years old, sitting in the living room with a bowl of Spaghetti-Os. Middle of the day during the week, so the only options were infomercials and random movies.
